Why should I hire a photographer for my wedding?
Let me answer this question with a little anecdote: a couple of years ago I was visiting an old aunt in her house in Italy, and she asked me to take a pair of scissors out of a drawer. While I looked into the drawer, I noticed an old photo, one I had never seen before.
- Aunt Maria, what is this?
- It was when Uncle Alberto and I got married.
It was a family picture, with a lot of relatives and friends around the newlyweds. I recognized my parents, who were engaged at the time. They looked so young, standing beside each other, not even holding hands. You know how strict social rules were, back in those times… A lot of faces were unknown to me. My aunt started to name this and that person, explaining their relation to me and recalling their characteristics or something they did. We spent the whole afternoon talking about the old times, with me asking question after question.
I felt so grateful a photographer was there on that day in the Sixties, behind the camera, to capture a memory which would be later passed on to me through generations, and would give me a glimpse of my family’s life when I was not there yet.
After that episode, I felt even more motivated in my job as a wedding photographer. I believe photography is not only a useful, but also essential part of a wedding.
